Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine exposed a large-scale production of counterfeit clothing in Kirovohrad region. The offenders counterfeited trademarks of more than 20 well-known luxury brands of clothing and accessories.
The investigation identified a group of people who organized a full cycle of counterfeiting. Each member of the criminal group was assigned a specific role in the production, storage and sale of counterfeit goods. The goods were sold at retail and in bulk via websites, telegram channels and markets throughout Ukraine.
During the searches, the detectives seized about 160 pieces of professional equipment used for sewing, branding and ironing. In addition they seized counterfeit T-shirts, jackets, pants, shorts, caps, backpacks with the names of well-known brands of clothing manufacturers, logos and labels. The estimated value of the seized products, raw materials and equipment is UAH 100 million. It took 15 trucks to transport 200 tons of seized products and equipment.
The investigation is ongoing and the full range of persons involved in the illegal activity is being established.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings under Part 3 Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal use of trademarks, trade names, qualified designations of origin) is conducted by detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
