The Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, in the framework of bilateral cooperation, met with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Ukraine.
Vadym Melnyk informed about the work of the Bureau, vision and methods of work. In particular, it was about the emphasis on the analytical component in building the economic security system of Ukraine. Regarding the priority areas of the BEB's work during the war in the framework of international cooperation, Vadym Melnyk noted that today it is extremely important to return illegally withdrawn funds from Ukraine and counteract their legalization in the EU financial system.
Topical issues, format and directions of further cooperation in the field of economic security were also discussed at the meeting.
"Issues of common interest to the competent authorities of Estonia and Ukraine in the field of economic security are the exchange of information and experience in combating economic crimes, methodological assistance and participation in joint investigations and operations, and the need for institutional and international technical assistance, which are extremely important for strengthening the fight against economic crimes and the development of the ESBU, ”said the director of the ESBU.
The parties agreed to hold a meeting in the near future to sign a Memorandum on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation between ESBU and the competent authorities of Estonia. This will allow for constant communication and exchange of information with representatives of the relevant EU bodies investigating crimes in the economic sphere.
