Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Zakarpattia region discovered an unmanned aerial vehicle with cigarettes without excise tax stamps. They tried to smuggle the counterfeit to Hungary from a village in the Berehiv district of the Zakarpattia region.

During the inspection detectives found that there were tobacco products inside the drone. For ease of search after dropping the package with cigarettes, reflectors were pasted on it. The UAV itself is made by hand and works according to the principle of an airplane.

Detectives of the Territorial Department seized the vehicle used by the smugglers to deliver the drone, the device for launching an unmanned aerial vehicle as well as 1,300 packages of tobacco products without excise tax stamps.

The investigation is ongoing. The full circle of persons involved in illegal activities is established.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is carried out by the detectives of the TD of the ESBU in Zakarpattia region, the prosecutors of the Zakarpattia regional prosecutor's office carry out procedural management.
