On December 7, the first Coordination Meeting on Cooperation with the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine under the auspices of the Project Co-ordinator of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe was held in Kyiv. Director of the Economic Security Bureau Vadym Melnyk presented the overview of activities that took place during building up a new department involved in the legal order in the economic sphere of Ukraine.
The Director of the Bureau acquainted the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, Ambassador Henrik Villadsen, with all the aspects of the establishment of the ESBU. He told about the stages of human resourcing, legislative and material support of these processes. The Ukrainian side expressed its interest in close cooperation with international organizations in education and retraining of personnel, the implementation of international experience in the fight against economic crime, the use of the latest techniques and software, as well as technical assistance.
Ambassador Henrik Villadsen expressed his gratitude to the head of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine for a meaningful meeting and expressed hope that cooperation between the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine and the ESBU, in support of government reforms that strengthen Ukraine's fulfilment of its obligations, has great prospects.
