Analysts of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region prevented embezzlement of UAH 4 million from the local budget during a tender for the purchase of medical equipment.

Based on the results of information and analytical work the Territorial Department found that officials of a multidisciplinary intensive care hospital in Kyiv region announced a tender for the purchase of a general anesthesia system. The officials planned to spend UAH 4 million on this.

The Bureau's experts analyzed market prices and found out that the purchase price was significantly overstated. In addition only one bidder was registered for the auction and was recognized as the winner.

Analysts of the Territorial Department recommended that the spending unit reconsider the decision to purchase medical equipment.

As a result of the measures taken the contracting authority terminated the contract with the supplier. Thus the employees of the ESBU prevented the embezzlement of UAH 4 million from the local budget.

As a reminder recently analysts of the ESBU in Kyiv region prevented the embezzlement of more than UAH 6 million from the local budget during a tender for the overhaul of a road.
