Detectives of the Territorial Department ESBU in Kyiv region secured the recovery of over UAH 5.4 million in criminal proceedings over intentional tax evasion.

The investigation established that during 2022 an accountant of a construction company in Kyiv region failed to file a tax return for the lease of a land plot allocated for construction. In this way the company intentionally evaded paying taxes in a significant amount. The pre-trial investigation was initiated on the basis of an analytical product prepared by the Territorial Department ESBU. The amount of damage caused to the state amounted to over UAH 5.4 million.

In May 2023 the above-mentioned person was served a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation the company's officials voluntarily paid the damages caused to the state.

Thus detectives of the ESBU secured compensation for the damage to the budget in the amount of over UAH 5.4 million. Employees of the ESBU sent a petition to the court to release the individuals from criminal liability in connection with the full compensation of the damage.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on the grounds of the offense stipulated by Part 1 Art. 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion) was conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Kyiv city prosecutor's office.
