Detectives of the Territorial Department Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region together with other law enforcement agencies, stopped the activity of underground production of alcoholic beverages in Boryspil district.

The investigation established that a group of people organized the illegal production of excisable goods, namely ethyl alcohol, alcohol distillates and other alcoholic beverages. The counterfeit which is dangerous to human life and health was produced in a private house. The counterfeit products were poured into plastic containers and sold in large quantities to trusted customers.

As a result of the searches the employees of the ESBU seized 2 thousand liters of alcohol and alcohol-containing substances. Plastic containers and production equipment were also seized.

The estimated value of the seized counterfeit products and equipment is over UAH 1.5 million.

The defendants face imprisonment for a term of eight to ten years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excise goods) is carried out by detectives of the Territorial Department Economic Security Bureau in Kyiv region in cooperation with Kyiv region police officers and under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office.

As a reminder the detectives of the ESBU recently seized counterfeit cigarettes and alcohol worth UAH 4 million in Kyiv region.
