posted 28 November 2022 06:31

The fight against corruption and prevention of any kind of corruption remains a development priority of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.

This was stated by the  ESBU director Vadym Melnyk during a working meeting with representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUAC).

The head of the department told the international partners about the implemented areas of counteraction and prevention of corruption in the work of the ESBU and presented a plan of measures for its implementation.

"Tasks of the Anti-corruption program to implement mechanisms of transparency, integrity and increase the level of public trust. It has developed mechanisms that will improve the existing system of preventing and countering corruption in the ESBU, as the emphasis is on prejudice, i.e. assessment of corruption risks and their subsequent prompt elimination," said Vadym Melnyk.

In turn, the senior adviser on anti-corruption issues of the CSEU, Joseph Julai, noted the correct vision of the fight against corruption and the ways to overcome it by the ESBU team.

He also added that based on the practice of law enforcement agencies in Hungary and other countries, the constant analysis of all processes by department heads minimizes the manifestations of corruption. Such a trend will help in assessing the integrity risks of the ESBU employees, and an objective study of the results will ensure effective performance of tasks and timely response to them.

According to the results of the meeting, the project of the Anti-corruption program of the BEB will be finalized taking into account the suggestions made by the representatives of the CEEC. In particular, experts of the Consultative Mission of the European Union in Ukraine will be involved in conducting corruption prevention trainings for BEB employees and in the implementation monitoring process.

In addition, the ESBU and the ECEC agreed to expand cooperation with the competent authorities of European countries regarding the exchange of information, experience, and the introduction of practices for preventing corruption and fostering integrity.
