Analysts of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have identified 103 enterprises with a potential risk of illegal reimbursement of value added tax. It is about the alleged manipulation of enterprises with the display of the balance of imported goods and the real origin of exported goods, works or services in tax declarations for VAT reimbursement.
To prevent the misappropriation of public funds the ESBU sent letters of recommendation to the State Tax Service of Ukraine on the identified risks. To preserve budgetary funds, the Tax Service conducts documentary unscheduled inspections of these business entities and checks the submitted declarations.
As a result, already 8 enterprises independently refused VAT reimbursement. In total it is UAH 12 million.
For reference: According to the Law of Ukraine "On the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine" one of the main tasks of the Bureau is the prevention of risks to the economic security of Ukraine in particular illegal reimbursement of value added tax.
A risk is a threat identified in the budgetary, tax, customs, monetary or investment spheres the influence of which leads to shadowing of the economy and weakening of the economic security of the state. To identify such threats analysts use a risk-oriented approach.
We will remind that recently the analysts of the Territorial Department of the ESBU in the Volyn region anticipated the purchase of medical equipment by a communal non-commercial enterprise at a significantly inflated price. Analysts sent a letter as a result the equipment was purchased for 2.5 instead of 3.7 million UAH.
