The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine held the first meeting of the newly established Public Control Council (PCC). Taras Kotov was elected as the Chairman of the PCC, Vasyl Chyzhmar as his deputy (both representing the NGO «Centre for Public Control»), and Andrii Tkachenko (NGO «Anti-Corruption Axe») - as the Secretary.
At the invitation of the Public Control Council, the meeting was attended by Serhii Perkhun, Acting Director of the ESBU, Andrii Pashchuk, Deputy Director of the ESBU, Maksym Kuterha, Deputy Director for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization of the ESBU, and Oleksii Drozd, Head of Organization Support of Activities Department of the ESBU.
In addition to the election of the management board, the members of the Public Control Council considered organisational issues and further steps of cooperation with the ESBU, including the involvement of the PCC representatives in the commission for corruption risk assessment at the ESBU.
As a reminder, in early December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an order approving the composition of the Public Control Council under the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine.
The Public Control Council was formed following an open competition to ensure transparency and public control over the ESBU's activities.
The newly elected Council includes candidates from 5 NGOs.
