In total the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine has almost 4,000 cases under investigation. Acting Director of the ESBU Andrii Pashchuk said this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.
"If we take into account the number of proceedings referred to the court this figure has increased almost 17 times compared to the same period of the previous year. We are often asked how much money we have returned to the budget and according to statistics we have already returned UAH 508 million. I would also like to note that the State Treasury has more than UAH 1.2 billion on its accounts. These funds will be returned to the budget after the last investigative action is completed," said Andrii Pashchuk.
According to the head of the Economic Security Bureau one of the agency's priorities is to combat illegal trafficking of excisable goods.
Detectives of the ESBU also pay considerable attention to the fight against organized groups that have become more active recently.
