The Acting Director of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine Andrii Pashchuk met with representatives of the Committee on Import and Trade of Alcoholic Beverages and the Tobacco Committee of the European Business Association.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the Bureau's proposals to improve the legislative norms regulating the circulation and production of tobacco and alcohol products.
In particular, they discussed the specification of the conditions and procedures for manufacturers to submit information to the supervisory authority on chemical and technical products that use ethyl-denatured alcohol for production. They also discussed the introduction of registers of tobacco producers and processors, setting the standards for total losses and waste of fermented tobacco raw materials at 5% of the total volume.
Andriy Pashchuk also told the EBA members about the results of the work of the interagency group to combat the illegal circulation of excisable goods.
According to him, within 5 months, i.e. since the creation of the group, law enforcement officers have seized more than 11 million packs of cigarettes, almost 440 thousand electronic devices, and more than a million tonnes of alcohol and counterfeit alcoholic beverages.
According to EBA representatives, such measures are necessary not only to understand the position of legal business but also to develop effective methods of counteracting the shadow market.
